Well, today we are happy to announce that we are integrating the Chainlink’s world-class decentralized oracle network to access one of our platform’s most elusive of ingredients: an on-chain source of tamper-proof and verifiable randomness. We will be using Chainlink VRF to distribute random rewards such as NFTs and XED to our loyal token holders, as well as support dynamic NFT and lottery mechanics use cases in the future that are augmented by randomness.
Verifiable Random Function
That’s what VRF means. Creating truly random numbers, referred to as a random number generator (RNG), has always been one of the greater challenges of computing. While it may be impossible to generate a number that is literally random, computers have become relatively adept at introducing so many variables that the number is unpredictable.
However, accessing randomness on the blockchain is not straightforward, with certain security consideration to account for. For example, on-chain RNG solutions like block hashes can be manipulated by blockchain miners, while off-chain RNG solutions are opaque and require users to trust that the centralized data provider won’t manipulate the results to their benefit.
What Chainlink does is use the power of the blockchain to overcome these issues and take it even further.
Chainlink VRF enables smart contracts not only to access randomness, but to do so while ensuring two key aspects: security and usability. On a technical level, Chainlink VRF works by combining block data that is still unknown when the VRF request is initiated with the oracle node’s pre-committed private key to generate both a random number and a cryptographic proof. The smart contract will only accept the random number input if it has valid cryptographic proof, and a valid cryptographic proof can only be generated if the VRF process is tamper-proof. Since the cryptographic proof is published and verified on-chain before VRF is used, everyone has strong assurances that tampering by users, blockchain miners, or even Exeedme developers, is impossible.

There will be other use cases in the future, of course, but here is how we are starting: We will be using this to reward some of our most active users as well as ticket holders via provably random giveaways. We are constantly working on new ways to surprise gamers and keep their competitive spirits high. We also want to keep innovating and pushing the boundaries of what our platform can do by allowing users to buy lottery tickets or get them through missions and access lottery opportunities in XED and NFTs. This is why we are working on a brand new series of digital collectibles that we will use to promote and support a progression reward strategy (more details to follow in a separate announcement).
We want to acknowledge gamers’ progress and achievements.
These NFTs will not only be awesome mementos, but also the key to unlocking future special rewards within Exeedme’s ecosystem.
Chainlink VRF will help us randomly reward our most active users.
Chainlink VRF will be our verifiable source of fairness.
We don’t want to be the ones who directly pick who gets these goodies. And we don’t want to establish criteria that unfairly rewards one individual over another.
We want to spread the love among everyone that is heavily active on the platform and is supporting our work.
What is fairer than randomness? Chainlink VRF will provide a secure source of on-chain randomness to determine which of our top users receives a rare NFT or other prizes. By using Chainlink VRF, everyone will have verifiable proof that the source of randomness is authentically random.
